J.T.S. Brown Bourbon was first produced in 1855 by J.T.S. Brown & Sons, named after John Thompson Street Brown Sr., a key figure in Kentucky’s whiskey history. Alongside his half-brother George Garvin Brown, he co-founded a liquor business that eventually evolved into the Brown-Forman Corporation, known for brands like Old Forester and Woodford Reserve. The Browns operated their distillery near Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, producing several whiskey brands, including J.T.S. Brown. After Prohibition, the brand changed hands multiple times, eventually being acquired by Heaven Hill in the mid-20th century. Today, Heaven Hill produces J.T.S. Brown at its Bernheim Distillery in Louisville, with aging and bottling in Bardstown. The bourbon is available in both 80-proof and 100-proof Bottled-in-Bond expressions, maintaining its legacy as a classic, value-driven Kentucky straight bourbon.
