The recipe, crafted by Bill Samuels Sr. with the help of a chemist, features a high wheat content, resulting in a sweeter, more mellow taste compared to traditional bourbon recipes. Today, it remains a beloved favorite among bourbon enthusiasts worldwide, revered for its quality and craftsmanship. The 2014 Maker’s Mark Coach Mark Stoops commemorative bottle was a limited-edition release honoring the University of Kentucky’s head football coach, Mark Stoops. Released on April 4, 2014, the bottle was part of a charitable initiative with Keeneland Race Course and UK HealthCare’s Gill Heart Institute, aimed at supporting cardiovascular care across Kentucky. Only 10,000 numbered bottles were produced, retailing for around $52 each. The design featured a black label with an image of Coach Stoops and was sealed with blue wax to reflect the University of Kentucky’s school colors. A bottle signing event was held at Keeneland during the Maker’s 46 Mile (G1), offering fans a chance to meet Coach Stoops and have their bottles signed.
